ADVANCE #3021931 - WESLEY DIVINITY SCHOOL PHILIPPINES SCHOLARSHIP PROG
The United Methodist Church in the Philippines is rapidly growing in the number of local church and mission congregations. The need is for theologically trained pastors to nurture these new converts and establish them in faith. Being a predominantly Roman Catholic country, the burden of church leadership is to think through our cultural traditions and social issues with the intention of making the gospel relevant in our context. The UMC requires its clergy to obtain seminary education, but the process is quite expensive. Financial incapacity is the hindrance for most pastors yearning for seminary education.
